Who doesn’t LOVE mexican food ? In my Puerto Rican home we typically eat more Mexican food than we do comida criolla (that’s Spanish for Puerto Rican food). I love exploring other cultures through the culinary arts. Mexican recipes are by far my favorite.
A staple dish in my home is nachos. I know it sounds more of an american dish rather than a tradition mexican. However, it’s really one of those dishes you can add character to. I would categorize this as mommy proof. I love this nacho recipe because it is very versatile and can please even the pickiest eater. You can really dress them up any way you want. What I love most about this recipe is that it is fast and simple. This is my go to meal for evenings in which my family will be on a tight schedule. You can even go the extra mile and leave all the dressings pre-cut so that when it’s time to cook all you are really making is the meat. It seriously does not get easier than this.
So what makes this recipe Mexican you ask? The Mexican style tortilla chips, the fresh salsa or pico de gallo, the fresh avocado, the jalapeños, and you cannot forget the sour cream and queso fresco. I can go on and on about how to dress these up. Check out my simple take on my boys favorite meal down below.
If you like to add something to your nachos that I did not use please share it in the comments. I would love to try it. Buenprovecho!
Love, Mrs. Velez
